When Duke and other K9 “officers” retire, where do they go? Do their handlers keep them? These dogs are worth up to $10,000, who pays for this?

I believe they keep their dogs. They don’t rent the dogs while they’re in service. They’re actually part of the officers family. Hopefully the dogs still receive veterinary care as part of their retirement package but probably not. Good luck Tony. Hope you get to stay in Tahoe.
