Fire at Genoa eatery destroys kitchen
A fire at the Genoa Station Grill and Bar on Oct. 26 caused about $75,000 in damage.
The fire broke out in the kitchen area and was contained to the kitchen and attic area. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but arson has been ruled out, according to Douglas County sheriff’s deputies. No injuries were reported.
The fire was reported just before 9am Friday.
Genoa Station, next to the town hall, is one of the newest businesses in this Nevada town.
Approximately 18 firefighters responded to battle the fire, while Douglas County Sheriff’s and Nevada Highway Patrol assisted with traffic control.The road that runs through Genoa was closed for approximately two hours.
