Letter: Praise for South Lake Tahoe library
To the community,
I cannot begin to emphasize my love and appreciation for our local public library. It is the go-to place to find deeper information on a myriad subjects and so many good reads.
If any books or music are not readily available, they are freely available via request via the county service area.
It has been most satisfying to be a member of the Friends since moving here over 12 years ago. Following a long and enriching career in the public library, I can attest to the veracity of the quote by writer Anne Herbert: “Libraries will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no libraries.”
Sherna Kopple Svensson, president of Friends of the Library South Lake Tahoe
Vote ‘YES’ on ‘L’ for our libraries.
“Yes” will lower the tax bill on undeveloped lots by half, raise property values, and continue the current services of our library without raising the current amount by more than 3 percent max. a year. On $17.58 a year, that could amount to 53 cents a year at the most. Quite an excellent deal for all that the library offers the community: books, DVD’s & CD’s, audio books, instruction in using laptops, smart phones, & e-readers, magazines, and so much more!!!
Having had a library card since I was 4, I can not imagine a community without a library. It opens doors for everyone especially children. Stop into the library and look at what is happening there. Computer access for those who do not have a computer. On the 27th there is a Halloween party for kids and much more. Check it out and vote yes on Measure L.
