Tahoe National Forest lifts fire restrictions

Fire restrictions in the Tahoe National Forest have been lifted.

Recent rain and snow in the high country enabled the Forest Service to lift restrictions. Visitors can now have campfires in the backcountry with a valid campfire permit.

As fall progresses however, visitors are reminded to be fire safe as the weather can turn warm, dry and windy.

This past year in the Tahoe National Forest there were 65 lightning-caused fires and 52 human fires for a combined total of 38 acres, the largest being 2.5 acres.
