Winter storm warning for Lake Tahoe Basin
The first winter storm warning of the season has been issued for Lake Tahoe from Monday at 6am through Tuesday at 11am.
Expect 4 to 8 inches below 7,000 feet, while above that level could receive 10 to 18 inches.
Rain is likely to be the first form of moisture before snow starts falling.
Winds will also be a problem, with ridge gusts expected to hit 100 mph.
The National Weather Service in Reno is saying driving in the basin and over the passes will sketchy during the brunt of the storm.
Snow is in the forecast through Thursday.
The highs this week are not expected to reach above 45 degrees. Lows will be in the 20s.
— Lake Tahoe News staff report
Leaves of yellow, orange and red dancing and swirling through the streets. Although the sun is shining, occasional small flakes of snow waft through the air. The leading edge of a storm lurking atop the western slope of the Sierra, waiting to creep into the Tahoe basin in the darkness of night. HELLO WINTER! And goodbye to the best summer I’ve ever known in the 52 years of my life!
What a wonderful way to start to day and week with a white and snowy morning! It is quite invigorating!
