Sugar Bowl not opening on Saturday because of storm

With several strong systems of extreme weather delivering mixed precipitation, high winds and fluctuating snow levels, Sugar Bowl announced this morning that the resort will be closed Dec. 1.

“These storms are actually great early-season base builders and it’s snowing pretty good up top,” resort operations director Scott Ferguson said in a statement. “But with strong winds impacting lift operations and mixed precipitation limiting visibility, and perhaps more importantly in the interest of maintaining the lower-level base we’ve already got, we’ve made the decision to close for this Saturday.”
