Then and now: Changes to the Y in South Tahoe

As you approached the Y in South Lake Tahoe from Lake Tahoe Airport, the old photo from about 1963 shows the Smuggler Imports and Tahoe Sierra Market and Hotel white buildings at left. Most of that has been replaced by the South Y Center.

Behind the Standard service station (at right) was Rudy and Jeannie Buchanan’s new Lakeside Theater, which included a residence upstairs. The theater was razed in the late 1990s and replaced by an Office Depot, the building which now houses CVS.
