A 27-year-old Truckee resident who was shot Nov. 10 by a Washoe County sheriff’s deputy has improved to stable condition, authorities said Monday.

Michael Nelson Heil remained hospitalized Tuesday in Reno.

Reno police said Heil was shot in Verdi by a sheriff’s deputy who made contact with Heil during a routine patrol. The deputies name is not being released.
