Juveniles suspected of vandalizing magnet school

The names of the suspects in the Dec. 14 doughnut-spinning, wall demolition incident at the magnet school in Meyers are not being released because they are younger than 18.

California Highway Patrol Officer Jeff Gartner told Lake Tahoe News his office believes they know who is responsible for the vandalism, but will not make arrests because there are no known witnesses. He added that the names of the offenders — ages and genders were not released — have been forwarded to the probation department.

An El Dorado County Probation Department employee said Greg Sly, who runs the department, is the one to talk to. Sly did not return a call so it is not known what will happen to the accused if anything. It’s also not known how many people may have been involved and why they are on probation to begin with.
