LTN working on glitches

image_pdfimage_print

How many of you are frustrated with Lake Tahoe News lately because it’s slow to load or you can’t even get on?

(Really, you don’t have to answer — we share your pain.)

With the redesign came a new server — one that clearly is not functioning well. We are hoping to have the problem corrected sooner rather than later, but it is likely to mean some intermittent problems through the weekend.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Kathryn Reed, LTN publisher

I was a bit frustrated when you first switched over, but today All seems OK. A see a few little glitches here and there but nothing that warrants me spending time pointing it out.

Well the No Cookie to keep my Name and E-Mail for comments is a little inconvenient but other than that. I have no complaints (Today)

Yes, the new LTN server seems quite pokey (or stuck) if you use Internet Explorer browser, but I’ve discovered that it runs nearly “normal” if you use Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome browsers, for whatever reason!

    Kae Reed and Bill Kingman,
Kae, yes there have been some glitches in the new format but overall a good improvement. Just to let you know, the check got sent off today for my renewed subscription to LTN, also thanks for the kind words about the departure of my best friend, Lucky the dog.
Bill Kingman, I won’t be so polite with you! I want some “Then and Now” photos and I want them pronto! Just kidding Bill , but honestly, I do really enjoy them and hope you will start sending them into LTN again soon.

I have not had any problems accessing the new site, using Internet Explorer. The only problem has been, sometimes, FINDING a thread. I might want to comment, then come back later. Finding it again has taken some time. It could be that I am not doing that ‘finding’ correctly….but, had no such problems with the old site.
Yes, I agree with Old Long Skiis>>>Bill Kingman: MORE of the old photos!

OLS, thank you! http://www.photobucket.com/TahoeThenAndNow shows the photo pairings I submitted to LTN last July to December but without commentary. Maybe we should re-run as “Greatest Hits”? Anyway, I hope to find more. BK

    Bill,
I’ve got a year book from STHS from 1964. In the back are ads from some old businesses of the time and a few with pictures. Tahoe Creamery, the Outdoorsman, Tahoe Supply/Nel’s Varitety, Harveys Wagon Wheel. Anybody remember Chubs Billiards? It’s in there to.
Heck, even Hal Cole is pictured there on the high school ski team .
Maybe you can scan them and do what you do so well. “Then and Now”!
If your’e interested in the Sotanian of 1964 give me a call. 544-0760. I’ll deliver it. I’ve got some other old stuff around here as well.A few Tahoe Daily Tribunes from 1965? I got em’.

Other than what is noted above, on a computer using a firefox browser, seemed relatively normal. 3G wireless with a slow processor(Blackberry curve) is pretty lame(very long load times). Being locked out of 4G and a newer effective CPU isn’t cutting it.

BTW, that invalid URL notice with the Url box isn’t showing on this Blackberry curve.

Mine loads OK on explorer, no change in my service except that I can’t forward articles.

Glad to know that the “freezing up” of my ipod touch when reading LTN a couple of times in the past is not because I need a new device. Thanks for posting this and saving me a couple hundred bucks!

I’ve had absolutely no problems, Kae. Keep up the good work.
