Ski report: Groundhog says early spring is coming

It’s Ground Hog Day! Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow and that means an early spring. But he’s only been right less than 40 percent of the time.

Surface condition are turning spring like and softening on southern exposures with recent daytime temperatures. There’s still pockets of chalky skier-rider packed powder in some north facing slopes and bowls.

Kirkwood is hosting the Rahlves’ Bonzai Tour today with finals tomorrow.

Here is the Feb. 2 ski report.
