As a voting resident and taxpayer of South Lake Tahoe it is my hope that the cancellation of the March 5th City Council meeting will provide adequate time for the City Councilmembers to reflect on some of the conduct demonstrated at the February 19th City Council meeting and strive to behave in a more professional decorum befitting of individuals charged with the important decision-making in the representation of the best interests of our community and its citizens. I recently closely reviewed that February 19th meeting on the City of SLT’s website and specifically related to New Business Item (a) regarding the Tahoe Prosperity Center was embarrassed and disappointed at the conduct of certain Councilmembers and their obvious intent to behave punitively and in a manner resembling adolescent petulance. While it is not my intent to argue the merits of that particular agenda item I do expect for this City’s elected officials to demonstrate professionalism in the conduct of the City’s business and believe behavior such as that demonstrated will only harm our City. Such conduct will dissuade other agency’s representatives from taking these elected individuals, their opinions, and their decisions seriously and it will lead to the City’s exclusion from important matters affecting our community.

I believe our community and the City’s staff deserves a professional level of conduct from our City leaders and would hope to see that in the future.
