Motorcyclist who died on Geiger Grade ID’d
Update: March 3 8:55pm:
Kyle Banko, 24, of Carson City died Saturday while riding his motorcycle on the Geiger Grade.
Nevada Highway Patrol officials say on March 2 at approximately 1:58pm the sport bike traveling north on Highway 431 toward Reno in a no-passing zone passed a silver Subaru Outback traveling in the same direction. The motorcycle struck the left side of the Subaru and the rider was ejected, troopers said.
Banko died at Renown Medical Center in Reno where he had been airlifted.
The occupants in the Subaru, a 28-year-old Gardnerville woman and her two children, ages 4 years and 3 months, were not injured.
The highway was closed for approximately 30 minutes. The highway was completely opened at 6:26pm.

Too bad she and her kids had to witness this tragic event.
Ya and all because he was in a hurry. How come people on these sportbikes think the traffic laws dont apply to them. Idiot. Sounds like he wasnt a very good rider. The true victims in this accident are the mother and children
I concur with John ‘The true victims in this accident are the mother and children’.
Poor decisions takes precious lives.
John you are probably right. Not a good rider.
Driving over 100% on windy mountain roads is the appeal of Sport bikes. Its not if you fall but when you fall (How bad will it be)? Hitting a car bike or person is in very poor taste.
I am glad I survived my Street bike Dayz.
Totaled 2 1 6 week dunk and scrape session
Never came to a sudden stop.
RIP Kyle, condolences to those you left behind
There is a reason they are called “donor cycles” by people who work in hospitals. Not safe, even if the person is a “good rider”. I feel sorry for the mother and her children.
Please stop & Think about Kyle’s family before posting comments. They are hurting, they lost a son, and a brother. Thank you.
