Dodge Ridge first Sierra resort to close for season

By KCRA-TV

After closely monitoring the forecast for the first week in April, Dodge Ridge decided to close earlier than predicted.

Dodge Ridge officially closed its ski runs for the 2012-13 season on Sunday.

Mother Nature brought warmer temperatures and warmer storms, along with snow levels at 8,000 feet during the final week of March.

During Easter weekend, 95 percent of the trails were open at Dodge Ridge for skiing and riding.

The ski resort also hosted the annual Spring Fling Golden Egg Hunt on Saturday.

Over 90 children took pictures with the Easter Bunny and searched for the golden egg, which had a 2013-2014 Dodge Ridge Youth Season Pass inside.

Dodge Ridge will open its campground operations as early as April 12 at Pinecrest, Fraser Flat and Pioneer Trail campgrounds.
