Cold and wet – that’s the Lake Tahoe Basin forecast for most of the week.

A storm system will move into Northern California late Tuesday and drop into western Nevada and the Sierra by early Wednesday.

Expect the wind to arrive first. Gusts up to 50 mph could be blowing through Tuesday night. Snow will be close to lake level that night and down into the Carson Valley on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service in Reno says to expect 6-12 inches at lake level from Tuesday night through Thursday, and a foot or more along the Sierra crest.

A chance of snow is in the forecast for Friday too, with mostly sunny skies returning Saturday.

Starting Wednesday the high in the basin will be in the mid-30s, which will last for a few days.
