A Dodge Ram 1500 tried to do some urban four-wheeling, but instead ended up being towed Tuesday night.

South Lake Tahoe police Sgt. Jeff Regan said alcohol was not a factor in the 8:22pm March 26 accident. The driver and passenger refused medical treatment.

Regan told Lake Tahoe News the driver had been drifting on Highway 50 when the passenger woke up, grabbed the wheel and then caused the truck to veer into the front post of Keys Liquor.

Employees of the store that night were trying to secure the sign for the store and Fasta Pasta so it would not flap in the wind as rain started to sprinkle on them.

The truck, according to the tow truck driver, was likely totaled based on the damage to the undercarriage and both air bags having gone off. The truck was resting on a boulder that was in front of the post. Had it not been there, the post would have been taken out.
