On April 5, our deeply loved husband, father and grandfather left us unexpectedly. He was 63.

Randy Hilliard Acevedo was born Nov. 23, 1949.

Randy graduated from USC Dental School in 1974. After practicing dentistry in Switzerland for a year, he opened his dental practice in South Lake Tahoe.

He enjoyed the outdoors. If not working, he could be found on the golf course, the lake, in the mountains or anywhere life’s beauty could be experienced.

He cared deeply for the patients he treated over the years, many of whom remained lifelong friends.

His humor, compassion and kind heart will forever be with us. He will be remembered as the best husband, father, grandfather and friend anyone could hope for.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Acevedo.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Monique, their two sons, Jason and Eric, and his granddaughter, Makenna. He also leaves his only brother, Scott Acevedo (Richard) from Tustin, as well as his loving extended in-law family in the Netherlands.

A celebration of life will be April 14 from 4-6pm at Edgewood Tahoe in Stateline.

Oh my goodness, so sad to hear about Randy’s death. Completely unexpected – he always was hale & hearty. He was my longtime dentist, and was a wonderful guy. Monique, Jason & Eric, you have my sincere sympathy.

Randy was a great man who cared deeply for his family, friends, and community. He will be missed and I feel blessed to have had his hands in my mouth. I know Randy would find humor in that.

Such a sudden, unexpected, and heartfelt loss. One never knows. Monique, Jason, Eric and extended family…our thoughts, prayers and support are with you. Please call on those close to you. The journey from now on is a tough one, we know.

Monique, Jason and Eric, please know you are in our prayers. So many people share in your loss, but obviously none to the extent that you will. The pain of your loss will subside over time, but you will all mark time from before Randy… and now after. Lean on all of us, all your friends, we stand ready to help in any way possible.

Randy was such an extraordinary individual, remarkably gifted and skilled, and yet so personable and humble. He was that rare person who was innately superior at any endeavor he might undertake. We were blessed to have him for our dental health care provider for 35 years; Jason – you will have some big shoes to fill, but I’m sure you’re up to it. God bless and comfort you all.

Randy was my best friend in dental school. Every break we’d hop in his blue Volkswagon square back and take off on adventures we could afford. Washington via Tilamook cheese factory, Olympia brewery , crystal Mountain, Mt Ranier. We went on mobile dental clinics to Idaho stopping to trout fish of course along the way. Skiing in Mammouth, Utah, and Colorado with a budget for gas , lift tickets, and cheap food..
Then we worked, raised our families, time passed…….I was hoping to see you in retirement, laugh, and remember, share the experiences in between. That will have to wait I guess, thanks for being a friend during a time I’ll never forget. I’ll miss you!! My condolences to Monique, Jason and Eric..
