• Tahoe Production House in South Lake Tahoe earned platinum and gold awards in the national 2013 Hermes Creative Awards competition for video excellence in the nonprofit category.

• Tahoe Mountain Brewing Co. in Tahoe City won a bronze medal for its Paddle Board Pale in the American Pale Ale category at the West Coast Brew Fest.

• Rodolfo Hernandez, Ruben Lizarraga and Sean Canilao — all accused of killing Derek “Zippy” Penaranda a year ago at Mo’s Place in South Lake Tahoe — will be tried in Placerville. The case is not moving to Tahoe based on the local court calendar.
