The corner drive-up payment window has survived since the 1960s on Fremont Avenue at Sandy Way in the Bijou area of South Lake Tahoe.

The 1970 photo was furnished by Bob Rockwell and the 2013 photo I took.

Yes the structure has not changed much with the exception of our Sessions Salon location since 1986! We have always loved our location and the view from the large single pane windows to the lake. Our investment as rent would have bought the building back when it changed hands around 20 years ago.If only the bottom floor were utilized by businesses that could bring people to the location. Dr. Bitner had the largest space at the other end bottom for years . He made many improvements and it like the other spots remain empty. I know our owner is very receptive to rent the bottom floor.
Our whole little area is actually doing well with Mac Duffs Pub remaining very busy and of course the Tahoe Bowl with old time fun and excellent pizza .This entire area has been designated as the LAKEFRONT DISTRICT by Dan from Inn By The Lake ,Pat from Tahoe Lakeshore Lodge and Spa and Jerry the GM at Lakeland Village as well as all the businesses along 50 near the beach. We welcome new tennants and hope some creative business settles below us in a great spot. The garden center at Nels is the best place for plants and trees so wave at us as you drive by. Come up the stairs and see why we have thrived for so many years.
