Nearly 20 tons of trash hauled out of Pine Nuts

Illegal dump spot and trash were cleaned up this month by the Pine Nut Mountains Trail Association.

This year for the annual event group staged at the BLM kiosk and staging area called “Single Tree” on Pine Nut Road No. 2 near the Douglas County Fairgrounds.

With a huge amount of help from the Sierra Stompers 4-wheel drive club, about 39,320 pounds of garbage were removed from the Pine Nut Mountains in one day. This weight total is from the scales at the Douglas Disposal Transfer Station.
