Oven fire at Red Hut causes minor damage

The original Red Hut in South Lake Tahoe is shut for the day.

An early morning blaze on Tuesday started in one of the ovens. Firefighters said flames were as high as 5 feet at times.

An employee of the restaurant on Lake Tahoe Boulevard told Lake Tahoe News they hope to be open on Wednesday. It will depend what inspectors say.

Workers were busy cleaning up the mess left from fire extinguishers.

The fire was reported about 5:30am June 25.

Minimal damage was caused by the fire and no injuries were reported.
