The California Highway Patrol will conduct a sobriety checkpoint on July 6 in South Lake Tahoe.

The two possible locations are Highway 89 north of Highway 50 or Highway 50 between Al Tahoe and Ski Run boulevards.

The checkpoint will be staffed by officers who are trained in the detection of alcohol and/or drug impaired drivers.

Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the Business, Transportation and Housing Agency.

I would like to see the STPD, EDSO and CHP get together and do a check point, both East-bound and West-bound, on a Thursday night after one of the free shows at Lakeview Commons. They could use the gym at the middle school as a drunk tank!

By the way, you can get a DUI on a bicycle.
