Pedestrian dies from injuries sustained July 4

A Sparks man has died from the injuries he sustained while walking to see the fireworks at Donner Lake on July 4.

Leonard Richard Whitlow, 46, was reportedly hit by bicycle rider Petra Bakker-Borhani, 24, of Truckee on Donner Pass Road along Donner Lake.

Whitlow died at Renown Medical Center in Reno, Truckee police announced July 8.

Bakker-Borhani was initially arrested on charges of driving under the influence. More charges are likely.
