Robert Allen Larson

A 64-year-old South Lake Tahoe man has been arrested on attempted robbery charges in the aborted heist at El Dorado Savings Bank.

According to officers, Robert Allen Larson confessed that he wrote a note demanding money from a teller, handed it to the employee on July 25, but then took it back.

Larson allegedly said he needed money and that’s why he thought of robbing the bank.

Officers said they found incriminating evidence at Larson’s house.

This man looks completely depressed and dejected. While what he originally initiated was wrong, he apparently had a moment of clarity and took the note back and then left. I hope while he’s in custody someone with influence tries to get him the help he seems to need. He looks like he’s not well enough to be his own advocate.

I agree – the guy needs some help – not jail.

I am holding judgment until I find out what happens to him.

but my take is yea (A cry for help)

I just read on another site that Robert Allen Larson called police at 2 in the morning and told them that he was the man who had done this. I will be very interested to hear what we do for him.

    This is so sad.

I have met him and he is one of the nicest guys you are going to meet.

I hope that his cry for help is heard.
Before being mayor, Fiorio LaGuardia was a judge. A man admitted to stealing bread, but he said it was to feed his family. The judge said that because he admitted it, he was guilty and had to pay a fine of $10.00 The judge then said to the full court, that not only is he guilty, but everybody in the room for allowing such a thing to happen in that city. He picked up his hat and put in a dollar and passed it around. They collected $47.50. The judge gave it all to the “robber”, who paid his $10 fine and kept the rest to feed his family.

We need this kind of justice in the small town of south Lake Tahoe.

    Mr. Alyeshmerni:

I absolutely agree with you. Do you or anyone else have any suggestions on how to go about helping this man?

i agree, usmc: i have not met this man, but my gut tells me that he needs compassion and therapy.

I agree with you guys, but unfortunately, he attempted a bank robbery. That’s Federal. It’s no longer up to the local gendarmes to determine how to handle it. And that’s the problem with Federalizing everything. When you centralize control, there’s no taking into account what might work in a smaller environment. It’s a shame.

Only a true sociopath could pretend to care about this guy and want to try to help him and then attempt to turn the conversation around to pleasure themselves with their never-ending favorite topic, hate the government… pathetic.

    Former USMC,
If he is able to work, I will find work for him.
It is ironic that sometime people get the help they need in jail.
Very different from the way things used to be.

Mayor Davis and Council Members Cole, Conner, Laine, and Swanson:

Could you please inquire to Police Chief Uhler regarding the disposition of Robert Allen Larson? In your capacities as elected officials you have access to information that the average citizen does not, but as evidenced from the posts on this blog there are individuals in our community who have concern for this man and would like to help him if possible. He appears not to be a hardened criminal but rather someone in need of help, one of which would likely include some mental health services.

    Thank you.

Teatotal, your own hatred for people who disagree with your particular view point does not change the facts.
Changing the discussion from one about this man’s situation into a personal attack against someone else is what’s pathetic.

    Mr. Alyeshmerni:

Thank you for your generous offer of providing employment to Mr. Larson. Let us hope that collectively something can be done to help this man via what appears to be a slowly growing effort. Compassion for others needing help should not go unheeded. Like my late Mother would often say, “There by the grace of God go I.”

Once again, thank you for your kind offer.

Glad to see some comumnity spirit about getting Mr. Nelson some help. He made a bad decicsion and now is paying the price with jail time.I’ve never met the man but it seems he must have fallen on hard times so this is what he resorted to, trying to rob a bank and then having second thoughts he pedaled away on his bike.
Monsoor, your offer to find Mr. Nelson a job is great! ! 4-mer-usmc,as always, great thoughts and comments. Kathy, I f youv’e known this guy for 23 years and say he’s a good guy, that’s good enough for me!
Lets help this guy get back on his feet and us, as a small town, come together, put aside our petty differences and do someting positive to help him.
We all make mistakes, some big some small, lord knows I’ve had more than my fare share!
    Take care, Old Long Skliis

    What a great community.
Thank you former USMC for involving the public officials. I have no doubt they will do the right thing once they have the facts.

The astonishing part of this story is how this elderly, misguided gentleman (correction, bank robber) slowly escaped responding authorities on a girl’s bicycle, 2 mph or so, eastbound on Highway 50, after leaving the bank.

I am thinking they really did not have there hart in catching him.

when he called them up and turned himself in, I bet they went REALLY! dam’
