Children are invited to spend Aug. 10 with scientists to learn about the unique ecology, function, restoration and preservation of Lake Tahoe.

Children’s Environmental Science Day will be at the Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences in Incline Village.

The 14th annual Children’s Environmental Science Day is a free event sponsored by the UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center.

More than 40 interactive science activities hosted by organizations around the region will be available for children ages 6 and up. The day will include interactive science demonstrations by UC Davis scientists, local agency and nonprofit organization staff, and AmeriCorps members. Hands-on activities are designed for the whole family.

Visitors will get up close and personal with fish and microscopic zooplankton from Lake Tahoe, learn about native species in the Tahoe basin, and test the water quality of a stream, along with many other science-based games and activities.

The Tahoe Center for Environmental Sciences is located on the Sierra Nevada College campus at 291 Country Club Drive in Incline Village.

I’d like to warn all of our friends that know their bible and the reality of the second coming and young earth river restoration realities that the devil incarnate will be released at “Children’s Environmental Science Day”. I hope you will join us in protesting these elitist non-believers.

Bigots. Both of you. Why is it okay to belittle Christians? You who claim to own tolerance.

Let me guess; you guys are an out of work comedy act. I realize the economy’s terrible but you might consider another shtick; religious stuff stopped being funny when the politicians discovered it. On the other hand, politicians are always funny.

Hey, I’m no bigot, some of my best friends are Christians. They’re just not part of that small minority on the lunatic fringe that threaten our society’s future with their anti-science, anti-reality nonsense. I think it’s dangerous for my grandchildren’s future to tolerate them. So I refuse to do so.

    Self-righteous bigots, at that.

Bigots? Hypocrit! Comedy (I found Bijou Bill and Thing Fish, sorry, Cosa Pescado, hilarious in their posts) has always been the first way to enlighten people to “Taboo” subjects.
You on the other hand seem to post with the “Holier and Smarter than Thou” attitude on every issue.
You have a right to your opinion, but please stop the name calling. It makes you sound ignorant.
