Sinkhole on I-80 near Truckee slows travel
A sinkhole on Interstate 80 has closed the No. 1 lane in both directions near Donner Pass Road in Truckee.
The sinkhole is in the center median.
Motorists can expect delays Aug. 23 heading toward the Sacramento and Bay areas as well as the Lake Tahoe-Reno region. Caltrans and a contractor are at the scene to assess the situation and then perform necessary repairs. There is no estimated time to complete emergency repairs and reopen the closed lanes.
The sinkhole developed during a paving operation early Friday morning. The sinkhole is estimated to be approximately 3 feet in diameter and more than 8-feet deep.
The cause is unknown at this time.

Reporters seem to forget the basics of a story…who, what, when, where and why…..I re-read the story to see if I overlooked it….I assume it is in NV???Our local reporters do the same.. We had a new business open and no address given!! Maybe they doni’t teach that any more….What do I know!!

Tony, with all due respect, I think that “Where on earth is Truckee?” is one of the better questions to appear here. It’s to the point, demonstrates a clear desire to receive an answer, and whatever debate it produces should be interesting. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to discover that once some replies are in, it will prove to be an extremely controversial question.
Jerry, since no one who has responded has been polite enough to answer your question, I will. Truckee in in California. California is on the West Coast of the United States of America in the North American Continent. Yes Google Maps or even Yahoo is a good place to get the information.
In all honesty though, I believe you were just taking a cheap potshot at the quality of the reporting of the Lake Tahoe News. Of course you could go to the South Tahoe Tribunes webpage and be forced to answer some “anonymous” marketing poll question to read the story
