Obamacare could raise premiums at workplaces

The estimated 149 million Americans under age 65 who get their health insurance through their employers could be the next group to feel the impact of the Affordable Care Act.
Open enrollment for 2014 is about to begin at thousands of companies, and many employers are blaming Obamacare—at least in part—for cost increases they are passing on to their workers.
Employees’ costs are expected to rise 5 to 7 percent next year, according to early estimates. Those annual increases have been a fixture for years. But in some 2014 open enrollment documents reviewed by CNBC, companies are specifically citing the law as a factor in next year’s pricing.
“(F)ederally mandated health care changes will require Comcast-NBCUniversal to pay new fees and implement plan design changes that will contribute to the increased cost of our plans,” says the open enrollment guide for CNBC.com’s parent company, where employee health care premiums are rising by double digits, and deductibles in some cases are doubling. The guide also cites rising health care delivery costs not directly related to the new law.
Other employers have adopted similar language.
What a lame article – absolute soft peddling the true nature of this law. It is a redistribution tool for the marxists – spit it out, be honest!
Unless this is deemed unconstitutional or repealed it will do it’s job in tearing this country down, bleeding the tax paying working class of this great nation!

I thought that affordable meant something different than I have to pay more. Is this my fair share that the President talked about? Obamacare was supposed to lower the cost of health care but that is not happening for anyone who is working. My PPO through ATNEA was canceled and now my doctor does koto take the plan that was offered. I cannot go directly to a specialist without going to my new primary care doctor. What a total sham and dumbing down of America. Hope your happy Obama and you have to go thru this when you get Lung cancer from smoking. The other habit you try to hide from America.
DC politicians don’t have to wait in line for care. They are ‘more equal’ than the rest of us, and get special care. But eventually they all meet their maker, and they can answer to Him when the time comes.

Here’s a clue: If your insurance co. sends you a cancellation notice for the plan you had, or an increase in your monthly payment, or drops you because you made a claim or have a pre-existing condition, this is nothing new. Do you not remember the yearly increases from these thieves and their refusal to pay no matter what the claim was, are you that vapid? The main reason the half-arsed, compromised ACA was passed is because our for profit health care system was completely out of control and killing people and our economy. What is new is that you cannot be dropped and bankrupted for pre-existing conditions or because your scam-plan covers much less than you think among other benefits such as preventative care and lower co-pays.

Those are all lies, BB. It never happened. I’m so sick of Democrat operatives saying obamacare is necessary because if you get cancer your insurance company will drop you and you’ll go bankrupt. NEVER HAPPENED. Can’t happen, the way the law was BEFORE obamacare. The only way they could drop you is if you had lied about a preexisting condition. It’s called fraud.
How have MILLIONS of us fought and won against cancer without going bankrupt, without losing our medical coverages?? My insurance paid everything. And I still had it. My husband had a preexisting condition. They still accepted us, with the condition that for the FIRST 6 MONTHS they wouldn’t cover that particular condition. Since then they have covered EVERYTHING.
Cancer and kidney disease didn’t cause us to lose our medical insurance, but Obamacare will.
