If you’re a Medicare-age Democrat lucky enough to live near the coast, life in the Golden State looks pretty good.

But if you’re younger, among California’s dwindling number of registered Republicans or hail from an inland county, not so much.

Those are the results of a Field Poll that tracked how Californians view their state as a place to live. Forty-three percent of registered voters surveyed said it’s one of the best places to live; 26 percent rated it “nice but not outstanding.” Twenty-one percent said it’s about average, with 8 percent calling it a poor place to live.

Driving those numbers, said Field Poll director Mark DiCamillo, is where the voter lives, their age and political bent.

I bet you think Texas is awesome.
You should move there, and stop posting.

This state is an expensive place to live. Those who have high paying jobs, are more capable of enjoying the benefits of California. With the highest gasoline prices in the nation, the low income people can’t travel as freely anymore. It wasn’t like that 20 years ago. People used to jump in a car and go places cheaply. Now, a hundred mile drive takes a significant chunk of money from a weekly budget. The best jobs are near the coastal cities. The young people living away from the big cities are struggling due to fewer job opportunities. That is what this poll reflects.

    Right on DZ,

Many of my childhood friends retired to
Texas and they are very happy and pleased
    they made the move.
Nevada is also a wonderful place to retire.
No state taxes and way less onerous anti-freedom
laws. Plenty of people are leaving CA when
able. My best friends son just took his auto
parts business and 17 employees to Carson City
    from Palmdale.
If you can’t leave CA, SLT is the place.

I love California and would not live in redneck Nevada. Although I would like to see our Congressman Tom McClintock go, maybe we could bus him to Nevada, he is a little mental.
