Corey Rosalie McCauley — 1978-2014

Corey Rosalie McCauley, who graduated from South Tahoe High School in 1996, died Jan. 3 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was 35.

Corey was born March 7, 1978, in South Lake Tahoe.

She earned an associate of arts degree from Lake Tahoe Community College in 2003 and an associate of science degree in nursing from Sierra College in Rocklin in 2011.

She was employed at Barton Memorial Hospital for 17 years. Her last job was as a registered nurse at Barton’s Skilled Nursing Facility.

Corey loved the outdoors and enjoyed an active Tahoe lifestyle. Her favorite activities were hiking, trail running, biking and spending warm summer days at the beach. She also enjoyed playing softball and volleyball. Her leisure time was enjoyed by working on arts and crafts projects, building miniatures, watching movies, listening to music and enjoying her technologies and social networking.

Corey is survived by her husband, Dan; daughter Danica and devoted stepdaughter Morgan; mother Linda Baysinger of Gardnerville; brother Doug Glover of South Lake Tahoe; mother-in-law Frances McCauley of Sacramento; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Glover.

There will be a celebration of life Jan. 10 at 3pm at the Lake Tahoe Christian Fellowship, 3580 Blackwood Road, South Lake Tahoe. A reception will follow the service. Attendees are requested to bring a single flower which will then become a unified arrangement. In lieu of other flower arrangements, an educational fund has been established for 23-month-old Danica. Donations may be written out to Danica Faith McCauley and given in love at the service.
