K-9 finds 12 oz. suspected meth in vehicle

Two Bay Area residents were arrested Monday morning in South Lake Tahoe on hit and run, and drug charges.
A Jaguar reportedly crashed into a fence and streetlight on Lake Tahoe Boulevard near Tata Lane and then drove off Jan. 20 at 11:38am.
South Lake Tahoe police officers found the vehicle on Julie Lane in a church parking lot.
Marleni Fuentes-Perez, 22, of San Mateo allegedly told officers she was driving when the accident occurred, however it was Jesus Cruz-Torres, 28, of San Mateo who was in the driver’s seat when they were stopped.
Quattro the K-9 was called in to search the vehicle. He found 12 ounces of suspected methamphetamine.
Fuentes-Perez and Cruz-Torres were arrested on charges of hit and run, conspiracy to commit a crime, and transportation-sales of methamphetamine.

I have had trouble with that flat four lane straight section of road before. Especially when it’s bone dry.
Good thing he was driving a great handling sports car. Someone with lesser driving skills could have hurt someone.
A 22 year old woman from San Mateo crashing a Jag in the snow and then splitting the scene. And, to almost no one’s surprise, has some meth on board.
You folks who would prefer to pay private security wages to your law enforcement officers might consider how badly a local grocery store shoplifter grabber might screw this one up.

Or perhaps if the drugs were legal, the meth-heads wouldn’t have the money from black market sales to be able to afford a luxury Jaguar. . . crashing a car and leaving the scene is a crime anyway, as is driving intoxicated. The fact that people do it anyway has nothing to do with drugs being illegal, and everything to do with risk vs reward in the illegal drug trade.
Just another couple of insects needing to be stepped on.
