South Lake Tahoe Optimist Club is hosting the annual 8th-grade boys basketball tournament at the middle school tonight and then Saturday from 9am-6pm, with the championship games on Sunday at 9am and 11:30am.

This year’s honoree is Tom Haen.

He became an Optimist member in 1998 and has been active in most fund raisers and youth activities the club has sponsored.

Haen stepped up to become president only three years after joining the club. He is a driving force in the club, setting up the annual Christmas tree lot, the duck race and pancake breakfasts.

So where are the honors for the pessimists? I’d go, just to see what a lot of the LTN posters look like.
