CHP, NHP unable to stop speeding vehicle

Saturday at 8:42am Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were called to stop a vehicle driving at a high speeds from Mono County.

After a routine traffic stop Feb. 22, Mono County officers were interviewing the driver outside his 2013 Hyundai Sonata, with California plates 6VRP791. Passenger Geoffry Guess, 26, from Idaho got into the driver’s seat and sped off. Guess entered Nevada going more than 100 mph. Attempts to stop the vehicle were unsuccessful.

The vehicle was last seen northbound on Interstate 580 north of Bowers Mansion.

Guess is known to resist police officers and is considered to be armed and dangerous.

    Nice combination of articles about aggressive driving. One says that there will be a “crackdown” and another where a driver apparently drove through two states at over 100 mph. Apparently, it wasn’t the right day to crack down.

    Keep in mind, d..f.. that in our present political climate, the cops will always be blamed if they try to match the speed of the runner (known, in the trade, as the A**hole). Not criticizing anyone, but these are complex events, not improved by the living room experts.

    Such has been the plight of the LEO for about 40 years. I just thought that the two articles were ironic together. Not criticizing anyone, and I certainly didn’t blame anyone. LEOs are often damned if they do and damned if they don’t…
