Letter: Time for Meyers to speak out

image_pdfimage_print

To the community,

Much a do about nothing?

Then why did our county supervisor write this letter to [Sen. Dianne] Feinstein back in July supporting the One Globe/Hub One Project? Is “Hub Living” really the neatest thing since peanut butter?

Personally, I’ve grown out of living with my bicycle in the living room and snow tires under my bed. I like my garage. I like my back yard, too. I guess, overall, I like my freedom.

Imagine having to move into a multi-storied Hub Structure, where Hub One controls the heat, water, sewer, lights, food, transportation, telephone, television, email and computer data? Sort of goes against the grain. Now imagine how much money this One company will be collecting for those services. Globe One claims to be a “green” developer. They’ll be green all right, all the way to the bank. Besides, if I wanted to live in small, cramped space above a parking garage, I’d move to New York.

I live and work in Meyers because Meyers is great. Clean, open areas, beautiful mountains, great neighbors and friends, and while growth is good, inappropriate growth is not. This Hub One “megapolitan” just isn’t right for Meyers.

We can stop this train wreck, please read the attached letter. Check out the facts.

Angela Olson, Meyers

TRPA and El Dorado County announced yesterday that the One Globe project would not be pursued. But that does not mean that another development will not happen under the Meyer’s Area Plan.
For more information on the Meyer’s Area Plan and to provide community input, there is a meeting next Wed, Feb 26, 6-8pm at the CCC dining hall in Meyers.
Email this address to be connected with the residents’ voice, Meyers Resident [meyersresident@live.com].
One Globe was dissuaded by our one voice. Let’s keep talking!

Great letter Angela! Also people should read up on Agenda 21. It is being disguised in many communities under many different names — “transpertation hubs”, “co-housing”. It is plain and simple stack and pack housing to concentrate people out of private property. Keep the good work up for your/our freedoms and liberty.

Did I miss the attached letter?

Meyers is just fine the way it is is – go away and leave it alone.

Without change, something sleeps inside us, and seldom awakens. The sleeper must awaken.

    Frank Herbert

Freedom is waking up all over the place.

Another example; The move to separate California into six separate states is also moving forward.

“The move to separate California into six separate states is also moving forward.”

CJ, it’s not moving forward, it’s just being bantered about by an EXTREMELY small minority of fear mongers such as yourself.

Once again you infer that fantasy equals reality!

Let’s not forget something else Frank Herbert wrote:

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

It’s not out of fear. It’s out of disgust of the leaders of this joke of a state.

I’ve lived in Meyers a long, long time and like it just the way it is. We don’t need anyone, especially TRPA and some out of the area developer telling us what we need!! Save you BS for someone willing to buy it….like Berkeley.

Click the words “this letter” in the first paragraph, suspicious.

And, C.J., Texas and Alaska are going to secede from the United States, too. Instead of one bloated bureaucracy, you can complain about six. LOL.

Angela Olson, a FINE letter! I’m with you, I don’t want to live in a “Hub Structure” either, nor do I want a huge parking garage in Meyers.
C Dub, I hope what you say is true, that the Catalyst Project is DOA. That’s great news!
We must remain ever vigilant! Keep your eyes and ears open as these things often get pushed thru without any input from the public. Take Care, OLS

One Globe Corporation is a perfect fit for planet Mars and all should encourage their efforts there and not anywhere in this county. This is a complete joke of an idea that is coming from Agenda 21 pack-em-stack-em housing plans for everyone to live in their govt. assigned studio housing in a govt. project that appears to have been in process here for Meyers “Town Center.” The fact that a county Supervisor was meeting with a US Senator about this makes me wonder what else has she been up to? Time for this Lame Duck on the BOS to retire early. Time for residents to take control and write a new plan for development before more of these outlandish ideas appear.

Thank you Angela. And just as we don’t want corporate domination we also don’t need crazy conspiracy issues and disgruntled former residents clouding the issue. Stay focused Meyers residents and we can beat back the powers that be.

Cjpuworksbitterclinger, I already suggested that I would gladly give you and your ilk texas. That is one state that you would probably find like minded folk who would not only listen to your rhetoric but probably give you the coveted bible for your prostilization. Not sure if you saw in the news that a preacher there in the south who used poisinous snakes to get his congregation to capitulate to his beliefs, well guess what, the snake was fed up for being used too and bit and killed the preacher. Guess thats sorta ironic…

Thanks Dumbfounded. Did not see the color difference, very faint.
So the powers that be want to shove Brave New World and 1984 down our throats. You are off base Norma in advocating for the coming totalitarian living model and structures.

  14. Scott Blumenthal says - Posted: February 20, 2014

Give the residents of Myers what THEY want not what someone from somewhere else wants! And by the sounds of it, the residents of Myers DO NOT want it! Perhaps, those elected officials will listen to those who elected them.

OMG! It’s a “SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT!” At least it is not Dillingham Construction Development, or Del Web Development, or Park Cattle Company development or, or, or,…

  16. John A says - Posted: February 21, 2014

    Good Job Angela !
There have been a lot of grubby little hands in the pie behind the scenes for the past few years designing what they can pillage from Meyers.
TRPA is a big part of this – silently negotiating Meyer’s future with these phony “sustainable groups” made up of consultants and developers.
The Conservancy quickly followed TRPA’s lead by jumping on board the commercial development train smelling enough money to sustain themselves as well.
We must take back our right to plan our own community !
Meyers and Tahoe Paradise Residents really need to come to the meeting on the 26th at the CCC building 6pm to say NO to all of this !
