Survey: Businesses expect to raise prices in 2014

A growing number of U.S. businesses expect to raise prices in the coming months, according to a survey by the National Association for Business Economics.

About 43 percent of companies plan to raise prices in the first three months of 2014, far more than the 20 percent that said they actually did raise prices in last year’s fourth quarter. Just over half — 56 percent — expect prices to stay flat and about 2 percent expect them to fall.

    Taxes are up. Obama wants wages to go up. Medical insurance has gone through the roof. It’s become more expensive to comply with all the new regulations that Federal, State, and local governments have come up with.
    OF COURSE prices are going up! DUH!

    so exactly how many more Federal regulations were published in the Federal Register in 2013 vs say the good old days of 1973?

    What they didn’t go into was demographics. With the so-called middle class giving way to possibly around 25% of the population pretty much owning everything, a Sony TV costing over $20K,…..

    Bottom line is, the masses get fed, clothed, and housed, the highest levels get super expensive high end stuff if that is a priority.

    Really think someone who made a windfall on stocks from 2000 to 2013 to the tune of billions cares if his first Sony TV might have been around $500, his next one over $20K, his first house around $20K, his new one maybe in the millions.
