Funding OK’d for intersection along Hwy. 89
Californians will be driving on smoother roads, safer bridges, and enjoying the benefits of enhanced transit thanks to $334 million in funding allocated to 53 projects by the California Transportation Commission.
On project is just outside the Tahoe basin in Placer County. The intersection of Highway 89 and Alpine Meadows Road near Truckee will get a new traffic signal along with left and right turn lanes. This will cost $874,000.
The allocations include approximately $165 million to repair bumpy pavement, preserve roads that are in good condition from worsening, and upgrade bridges to make them safer and stronger.
More traffic signals to impede the presently smooth flow of traffic through there. Great. Thanks.
I agree – smooth pavement, sure – but the need for a million dollar traffic light at that location is rather minimal….if there is one thing that selfs generate need, it is road and highway departments. Plus that intersection already has turn lanes??
And shouldn’t the first choice be a “round about” rather than a stop light?
Just slow down and go through most of the time, and no traffic lights to maintain and electricity to pay for.
Hey Caltrans does any of that money get us a stoplight in Meyers?
