Shanen and Dale Ruppel have opened Alpine Sierra Tours & Shuttle Service to provide locals and tourists an alternative to driving themselves to various places in the Lake Tahoe region and beyond.

The charter service is provided 24/7, while tours usually start at 8am. Vehicles include a Honda Pilot EXLthat seats seven, Lincoln Navigator Ultimate seating six, and an ADA compliant shuttle bus for 13.

Trips include the entire basin, going to Sacramento and Reno – including the airports, Carson City and the Bay Area. (The company is licensed in California and Nevada.) Service is also available for groups, such as wedding parties.

“If you need to get somewhere, we will take you. We can be your designated driver and your private driver. We also provide concierge services,” Shanen Ruppel told Lake Tahoe News. “We can pick up mail, beer, whatever you need, referrals to restaurants and entertainment. We provide car seats for kids, phone chargers, and iPod connectors.”

Pricing depends on the number of hours, number of people and extent of the service.

just what the town needs, more taxis….

to my knowledge no other company in Tahoe has been issued a TX license plate. that would make this company a California company unable to do Nevada to Nevada trips. with a Nevada to Nevada trip they would risk a $10,000 fine.

Why are they advertising Nevada runs. There is no way they have T.X. License for nevada. For one thing, in order to run a 13 person shuttle in Nevada. It has to have wheelchair access. Just saying.

We are a “For Hire” business. We do not have flag drop fees like taxis do. We are not a Taxi service, therefore we do not need a TX plate. We do not sit on a corner waiting for a client to hail us and then swoop in to rush them down the road. We have DOT & MC Authority, we have CPUC authority, as well as a valid license to conduct business. We also have transponders that allow us to drive people into the airport legally. Mike, ADA compliant means that we have wheel chair access, 2 in fact. Our company provides customized, pre arranged service for visitors coming to Tahoe. We offer a more private setting for clients, so if they choose, they do not have to ride with strangers. We also offer an excellent customer service experience for our clients. I assure you that there is enough business in this town for every company here. Unlike a majority of companies here in town, we are legal. Legal to enter the airport, legal to enter Nevada. We would be more than happy to refer the taxi companies with any fares that we do not or cannot accommodate. We focus on larger groups, which most taxis cannot accommodate. We want to thank the businesses that have accepted us with open arms and supported our new business so far. We look forward to being a part of what makes people want to return to Tahoe.

I understand Dale and Shanen’s Alpine Sierra Tours and Shuttle Service has been well received and recommended
by many casinos, hotels and resorts. Because of their exceptional attention to the smallest customer comforts they have already established a fine reputation with visitors as well as local patrons. This is more than just a taxi ride. A tour with Shanen and Dale can be part of a visitors exciting Lake Tahoe adventure.

I urge all LTN readers to go to the Alpine Sierra tours and shuttle web site and see what they have to offer, or call 544-4646 and talk to Shanen.
This is a great new business in town is run by good folks who’ve been here quite awhile and know Tahoe and all the surrounding areas. Shuttle service to the Reno airport, pick up something for you at the store and deliver it to your door.
If you have friends or relatives visiting from out of town, set them up with a tour. Emerald Bay, Virginia City, Genoa, Hope Valley, you name it! All in the comfort of one of their classy rides, and I might add, go along yourself, let Alpine Sierra do the driving, plus lunch is included! Want that extra beer at The Red Dog Saloon in VC? Hey, no problem!
Their larger shuttle bus is certified ADA and good to go. Boy, is old Wanda down the street gonna freak when we load her up for a trip with her walker and take her, and some of our neighbors to Emerald Bay! It’s gonna be a party!Sorry you must be at LEAST in your mid 50’s or older to go on THAT adventure, as it’s not for the youngins’!

Just realized that was a hypocritical comment…. You know what I mean…

You haven’t convinced me “Dale”. Any cab company can drop off in Nevada from california or pick up in Nevada to california. But you cannot load Nev to Nev. I over heard either you or one of your employees at Lakeside bar talking about some businesses in california that you signed on but he said you were not set up in Nevada for point to point runs. Another thing I know about Nevada is you can’t flat rate or quote prices.
