Horizon owners still seeking permits
Even though the Horizon is closed and it is going to be transformed into Park Tahoe, not all the permits are in hand.
The owners — brothers Jon and David Park — are still seeking the necessary permits from Douglas County to do the work they desire.
One permit that is in hand is a demo permit. This is to tear down the porte cochere — or overhang for the valet area.
Douglas County is reviewing the building permit application to remodel the gaming floor area and renovate hotel rooms.
The Stateline hotel-casino is going to become a Hard Rock-themed property. About $40 million is being spent on the remodel.

Didn’t they say they would be open by Summer?
last heard was that it wont be opened until december
Do they have their gaming license?
Looks like the gummint is delaying the project from getting underway. Gee, what a surprise.
I actually think a Hard Rock hotel would do great here.
No ones going to go there anyway so they can wait as long as they want. Shouldn’t make much difference.
No reason to hurry the freeways in Sac will be a nightmare most of the summer.
I have been watching the pictures on the morning news. They make our local road closers look like amateurs.
They’re making it almost impossible to get thru Sac. Can’t imagine who would wait that long to come to Tahoe. At least Red Hawk will be in the same boat.
Let’s stall tourism revenue for un-needed bureaucracy…it’s the “Tahoe time way”….
what is going to happen with the Park Tahoe Inn on Park Ave. Guests are going to be confused.
Why are they even considering calling it Park Tahoe???
Slap that big ol’ guitar sign saying HARD ROCK HOTEL & CASINO on the top of the building!!!
Next step: put an OUTDOOR EVENT CENTER in the back parking lot area to bring in world-class entertainment! Why pray for snow when you can book a show?!?!?
This could be the biggest thing to ever hit the South Shore!
Can you say Winter Olympics? How about X-Games?
Nosebleed seats could go for more with a lake view… VIP party rooms built in to the venue…
Ryan, you’re spot on.
What you’re implying requires smart, efficient, good marketing. That’s something a lot of folks in Tahoe no nothing nor care anything about.
