Fence down, Chateau retail nearing completion
While the Chateau project has been inching above the fence line, finally there is less obstruction. The fence along Highway 50 near the state line on the South Shore came down May 12.
Still, who the retail tenants will be has not been released. The only known business is McP’s Pub. The bar will be moving from its current location on the west side of the project area into the far end on the corner of the highway and Stateline Avenue. This was the plan from the get-go. The bi-level building has one story below ground, one above ground. Outdoor seating, fire pits and a kitchen that would be capable of producing real meals are part of the nightclub-bar-restaurant.
Owner Pete Joseph was ready to move seven years ago, and is ready to do so this year. The nightclub-restaurant is 8,988 square feet.
The retail is 18,800 square feet on one level. A definitive opening date for shops has not been set.
It remains to be seen what the rest of the 11.4-acre site will become. Originally it was to have two hotels and a convention center. That was before bankruptcy and ownership changes.

It’s good to see this post-recession progress taking place. Hoping for great success for the owners, future merchants, and our community.
i believe that powered house is taking up about 7 stores maybe it was 6. good that mostly locals are going in, just like heavenly village
Where is the parking for these new shops?
Casino’s
for Free
Beachgoers and sightseers wanting to access Lakeside Beach or restaurant should also be told to park at the casinos if they want to avoid the parking fees on the city streets. They can then be conveniently directed to walk through the casino on their way to the beach or Chateau project. One of the only issues one could foresee is exactly how to maneuver one’s (certainly leashed) dog, paddleboard, canoe or kayak through the casino floor.
In hindsight, it is most likely better that the convention center and two hotels were not built, or even the casinos would be charging for use of their parking lots.
“…or even the casinos would be charging for use of their parking lots.”
Just give it some time. Parking spaces are becoming a larger commodity on the South Shore and the casinos at some point down the road may likely demand proof of room rental, food/drink receipts, a parking validation, or they’ll charge outright to people trying to use their parking facilities for free while not spending any money in their establishments. Businesses can only afford to give things away for so long.
If the tourist is staying near “Stateline,” perhaps they will just walk. You people with Motels downtown should get a clue.
tahoe resident n rock the property has onsite parking in the development. everyone seems to have a one tract mind right now and that tract is parking
No one seems to have mentioned it in the comments but there is underground parking below the project so everybody RELAX!
Jeez, just enjoy a good thing happening in town for once.
Looks really beautiful!!
Rooster is correct, parking is underground. That was always the plan.

I have to agree, The Chateau (not the hole) is looking pretty good.
