South Lake Tahoe police officers on Tuesday chased down a suspect who reportedly was breaking into a residence on Bonanza Avenue.

Officers said the suspect was carrying bags of stolen items from the residence. Officers chased him through yards and over a fence to the meadow near D Street and Highway 50, where he allegedly attempted to pull a gun from his waistband.

“The suspect lost control of his gun, a semiautomatic pistol with a high capacity magazine loaded with 9mm ammunition, and was apprehended without any shots fired,” cops said in a press release.

An officer, whose name has not been released, was hurt in the scuffle. The extent of injuries is not being released either. The officer was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital.

The identity of the suspect was not immediately know because officers said he provided false information upon his arrest. The suspect was arrested of charges of illegal possession of a firearm, armed burglary and robbery.

The house being robbed had an illegal marijuana grow, according to officers.

I hope the police don’t deny sick people their medicine because of this.

I hope he wasn’t stealing medicine from sick people. Maybe he needed it more. Thank goodness the police caught him.

At least he didn’t shoot his p**p** off, cuz’ then he’d need a medical marijuana card for the pain(never mind the embarrassment)!

Seriously though, he pulled a gun on a cop? I think we won’t be seeing him on the streets for a while.

This story doesn’t say he stole pot

It dosent matter what he took, the fact is he was a theif in a house not his and he had a weapon to use against others. I guess the only positive thing coming from this story is that an illegal grow house was busted too. All the illegal pot growers in neighborhoods should take this story as a warning because that is a crime as well. I doubt that any local legal card carrying medical mj users will be affected by this, unless they make a habit of buying from illegal growers and then its their fault for not following the rules. Dont do the crime if you cant do the time…

Can anyone tell us which house this was or can we get an update? Knowing someone (once again) pulled a gun on my street is very concerning to say the least…..

    Well, shucks.

I may have given the SLT cops less credit than they deserve.

With a perp attempting to pull a gun, I would have expected he’d be dead, shot at least 15 times by three different cops. All in fear of their life from the perp.
