State Sen. Ted Gaines, R-Roseville, will be hosting a fire town hall meeting on June 25.

This is one day after the seven-year anniversary of the Angora Fire that swept through the South Shore and took out 254 houses.

The forum is from 6-8pm in the Aspen Room at Lake Tahoe Community College, South Lake Tahoe.

Due to a conflict in my schedule, (work) could someone please ask who the culprit(s) were that started the fire that caused our home and 253 others to burn down? I wish for them to pay for the landscaping and tree’s needed in our yard. This would add closure to this hidden story. Thank you.

I bet all he does is stand up in front of everyone and blame the agencies and environmentalists. He wont say anything about the wind that was really the culprit that day. I wont waste my time listening to this clown.

go figure- hide behind your “handle”
and call me a clown. You are clueless. Last time I checked, wind is incapable of starting a fire. God bless…

Ted Gaines giving a presentation on anything science-related is like my dog giving a seminar on international diplomacy.

I wonder if Mr. Gaines will talk about why the SLT high school students that caused the fire while partying on the ridge after a party (prom?) weren’t charged with anything. Much easier to blame the government than the individuals that started the actual fire.

Hey Tony, I didnt call you a clown, I called ted gaines a clown. Also, I dont put my real name because I did once and got threatened verbally by CJ McCoy. I was naieve then, didnt know I could put a “handle” instead of my true identity. So, I dont care what anyone says to my handle.
im sorry you lost your home in the fire. When we were house hunting back in 1999 we looked at several homes in the burn area but decided to stay in town due to the fire hazards I saw in the area. Really, homes that were crowded by young forest, also known as ladder fuels. I have been a wildland firefighter and worked on type 1 and 2 fire teams. There was no way id move into that tinderbox. Even living in town there is no guarantee that we are safe from wildfire. I live next door to a guy that has about 10cords of firewood in his front yard (totally illegal but noone will do anything about it). The Angora fire started in a rocky area that someone set an illegal campfire in. It was the unusual wind that day that stirred up the embers and sent them flying. If it wernt for the wind that fire would have never moved like it did. I have read the report. I saw the wind that morning, at 9am it was gusting and irratic and it increased as the day went on. It was unusual and once it got started, well, thats all it took. It can happen any time, any where. Hope it dosent happen again but im not optomistic.

go figure and Tony C, go figure I learned the hard way about using my real name when making a comment. Then I doubled down on stupid and added my home phone#. I would advise anyone not to do that! Vaguely threatening calls from people that won’t identify themseles while rambling on incoheretly? Not fun! But I will add I’ve met some really nice, intelligent, good folks from right here on LTN. The good outweighs the bad on that one.
Tony, you should remember me from our years at STHS.I know losing your home was devastating as it was for all the other folks in the burn area. Kae don’t allow swearing so I’ll see how long this statement remains intact, “I hope they catch those little rat bastards that started the fire”. There, I feel better now.
Take care, go figure and Tony C, OLS

OLS, yes, we have shared our story before about using our real names. I am wiser now. I do remember the day of the fire quite clearly and things happened so fast there really was little that the firefighters could do. It was a very sad day. I think that there isnt much hope in pinning the blame on whomever started the fire. Unless they post their guilt on social media somehow..

Tony, hope you read my above reply and I appologise for the confusion of whom I was referring to. It wasnt you…

keep fire safe everyone. It is going to be a scary summer…

    Gaines is a clown.
He is supposedly against the Fire Tax, yet we are still paying it.
And did you hear his comments on the cancelled 4th fire works? It will cost 10,000 jobs and put businesses out of business. What an idiot.
All he is good for is a smile and a picture and sponging of the tax payers.
