CARSON CITY — A total of 174 applications were submitted by Monday’s deadline to operate 76 medical marijuana dispensaries in Nevada, the state Division of Public and Behavioral Health reported.

Of those, 140 came from Clark County, where the law allows 40 dispensaries. Those submitting applications for licenses had to pay a $5,000 non-refundable fee.

The division said it received another 263 applications for licenses for marijuana cultivation facilities, production facilities and testing labs.

Families are packing up and leaving Tahoe, because of the harsh economic conditions, while Nevada moves boldly into a new cannabis economy. We need new leadership in the City Council and a willingness to look at all our options, including the huge economic opportunities that await those who embrace this new green revolution. Remember, this town voted by a decisive 60% majority for legalization back in 2010 and those numbers have only grown stronger since then. It’s just a small minority of residents who oppose the will of the voters and continue to trap this town in an economic tailspin.

    Kubby, you are a fruitcake.

Those “residents” live here, and pay property taxes, suffer the consequences of your “green-ness”. Of the families leaving Tahoe and renting their properties to low life, non-tax paying opportunists, ruining neighborhoods and property values…

Kubby, you are not interested in Tahoe’s success long term.

My investors certainly don’t think of me as a kook or a dreamer. As the Chairman of a publicly traded company that has a market cap of $100M, my opinions on cannabis have resulted in a 1,200% increase in share value since the beginning of the year. I’d like to do the same for this town.

hmmm, 1200% increase, sounds like a penny stock pump and dump, i would be very wary of investing money in it unless it had solid finacial profits with audit statements.

Hey Mr. Kubby : The increase in share price is obviously due to Colorado’s acceptance of recreational use marijuana. You’ve made your money. Now you look for credit where credit is not due you. Just be happy with your success and not brag.

I want my son to grow up in a town that has nature as the thing to get high on. I personally dont care if people choose to smoke pot. I just dont want it being grown in every rental house in my neighborhood. It stinks and it is not free from problems. There is crime, accidents and ignorance that come from that as a life style choice. I have seen it with my own eyes so kubby cant tell me that it isnt true. Im glad that its available to people that need it for medical reasons but id be willing to bet that the majority of use is for recreation. Im glad the dispensary down the street, just a few blocks from an elementary school, has closed.

I find it hard to believe this issue still exists.

Are there still people out there who think sending pot heads to prison to be beaten, raped, tortured, infected with aids and turned into sex slaves is a good idea?

I think the smokers at Lake-view smoking in front of children deserved a ticket. Let people grow and enjoy at home and put and end to the indoor grow operations already.
