DNA tests needed to ID remains

Douglas County sheriff’s investigators are still not able to positively identify the human remains that were found in June near the top of Spooner Summit.

Results of DNA tests are pending. That could take another 12 to 16 weeks.

The cause of death is also still under investigaton.

The remains were located approximately 300 yards to the north of Highway 50 between the Tahoe Rim trail and Kings Canyon Road in a remote wooded area by inmate work crews clearing brush in the area
