EPA recommends significantly lower ozone standard

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency staff said Friday that the nation should tighten smog rules significantly, a step that would improve air quality in California but force costly new requirements on government and industry.
The EPA staff recommendation is the final step before the rule goes to the agency’s leadership and the White House. As a result of lawsuits by environmental and health groups, the agency must propose a new ozone rule by December and the final rule by October 2015.
Federal standards for ground-level ozone, the main ingredient in smog, have proved deeply contentious because they would compel many states, cities and industries to adopt new measures to cut air pollution at a cost of billions of dollars.
California would be particularly affected because much of the state does not meet the current, weaker standard for ozone that has been in place since 2008.
The only thing that will satisfy the EPA is when we’re all dead and no longer consuming or emitting. Anything.

Mel, look at the air. Think that’s likely? Current regulations are quite enough, thank you very much. We do not need any more.
I know that the 1% have the financial means to insulate themselves (at least for a while) against the ensuing calamity or global warming but do you? Wa ter is already being fought over here and abroad. Food will be scarce in some areas and much more expensive in others. Insurers are already charging more in some coastal areas and denying coverage in others; mega weather events will impact us all whether it happens in our town or elsewhere and we pay for clean up with tax dollars. Its going to be an expensive deal. How deep is your pocket and your ability to protect yourself and loved ones? Maybe the best plan would be to develop a plan to deal with the problem. You know, like grownups.
Government control of all the resources is not the answer. They have a really bad habit of rewarding their insiders and punishing those who question them.

It is interesting when you research the term and history of Fascism you realize that it is a Myth that it is called Far right wing. Absolutely wrong. The far right wing is Anarchy not fascism. Fascism is a form of Socialism with a dictator and absolute control over the markets. It is Far Left wing.

Are Dog and CJ really that ignorant? The current levels of Ozone or Smog (from the story) is 75ppb and EPA is recommending lowering the level of Smog to 65ppb; and Dog/CJ are rooting for the Smog! Smog costs everyone with respiratory issues now.

Hey Dog-most of the ‘fumes’ you refer are clear. This has NOTHING to do with ‘looking at the air’.
