Letter: Reminder about being fire safe
To the community,
This is a public safety service message to remind all residents of South Lake Tahoe that due to extreme fire danger and severe drought conditions throughout the state of California, there remains no outdoor open burning of any type within the city limits.
The city of South Lake Tahoe and the South Lake Tahoe Fire Department have adopted section 307 of the California Fire Code prohibiting open burning “when atmospheric conditions or local circumstances make such fires hazardous”.
For further information go online.
Sallie Ross-Filgo, South Lake Tahoe Fire Department
Sallie Ross-Filgo and to the community. Yes, be fire safe! This means NO campfires, even barbecues are being discouraged.
While on the topic of fire, if you’re and indoor marijuana grower please, please, be extremely careful. The house behind me, a “grow house”, burned up due to reconfiguring the electrical wiring around the meter causing the house to become a burned out shell and could have easily caught the whole neighborhood on fire.
If not for the quick response and hard work of the SLT Fire dept.I would have lost everything. You guys are the best!!! I will also say altho our Fire Dept. and Police Dept. are sometimes accused of being over paid, from what I’ve seen, you earn every penny and then some!
Be fire safe and lets pray for snow this winter. OLS
I agree ols – our Fire Dept (& police) do a great job. For those who smoke, please use your ashtray & refrain from flicking ashes or tossing cigarettes out car/truck windows. We live in live fuel! Thank you Sallie for the ps message – you rock!
