Mt. Shasta mudslide blamed on drought, melting glacier

By Veronica Rocha, Los Angeles Times

California’s prolonged drought is believed to have caused a massive mudslide on Mt. Shasta over the weekend after meltwater from a glacier sent torrents of debris and mud down the mountain, officials said.

Experts believe glacial melting, accelerated by the drought, may have released “pockets of water” that destabilized massive ice blocks and causing the debris flow Saturday afternoon in Shasta-Trinity National Forest, officials said.

No injuries were reported, and there was no immediate estimate for how much material was caught up in the debris flow, which occurred in Mud Creek Canyon on the southeast side of the mountain, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

WOW, That would have been a sight to see. Climate Change deniers, suspiciously silent, go figure…

Floods and droughts have been happening as long as the earth has existed, Gofigure. Blaming the current ones on anthropogenic climate change (why the capital letters, GF?) is beyond ridiculous.
If man is causing them all now, what caused them BEFORE we had gasoline and electricity? What caused the ice ages? Why did the earth warm, and then have a little ice age? Did man cause that, too?
It’s incredibly arrogant to think we have the power to change the climate. Couple good earth quakes and volcanic eruptions will undo EVERYTHING Al Gore and the thieves in government can legislate away.

Dog. You don’t even believe that the Earth is over 6000 years old so can’t comment on events that took place 12000 years ago.

Actual Scientist have charted the Earth’s CO2 levels going back hundreds of thousands of years via ice records. CO2 is a greenhouse gas. The current level of CO2 is 400ppm, which is higher then even before the last Ice Age began.

Actual Scientific analysis of CO2 in rock going back millions of years verifies that the Earth has not seen CO2 levels of 400ppm for about 17 million years.

17 million years ago the Oceans levels were much higher, by as much as 120 feet. And YES today Ocean levels are rising.

Volcanic eruptions do NOT emit large amounts of CO2. Actual Volcanologist have estimated global volcanic activity releases .25 Billion Metric Tons of CO2 compared with Humans releasing close to 35 Billion Metric Tons of CO2 in 2013

The only thieves are the Fossil Fuels Industries stealing the future from our posterity.

Dog, yes, it is about politics. Climate deniers lack any credible science (3% of scientist agree with you), so by definition your position is only supported by politics. Just like evolution, creationist/intelligent design (or not so intelligent) folks are driven by politics/religion and not science.
