Opinion: EDC budget in trouble

At the October 13, 2014, Budget Committee meeting, the CAO’s Chief Budget Officer presented an updated budget forecast for fiscal 2015-16. Her latest budget forecast indicates a $19,000,000 general fund shortfall for fiscal 2015-16. Further, her forecast assumes a $5,000,000 savings due the County’s investment strategy. I do not believe that this $5,000,000 savings is a reasonable assumption. I must conclude that using the projections from the CAO’s Office that we have a general fund budget shortfall of around $24,000,000 for fiscal 2015-16.
I urge your Board to take immediate action to reduce spending this fiscal year in order to prevent the need to make draconian budget cuts next summer.

How “out of control” is the Board of Supervisors! The gal heading up the Board cash register, needs to look for another job.
still want to disband the city and have the county run things. You thought things are bad now; it would be catastrophic having the board of supervisors running things.
Looks like South Lake will get screwed again.
Why is this CAO still working here? She is working on destroying the county just as she did in other counties. The Supervisors that hired her should be fired.

Maybe it is time to wake up to the FACT that the overbloated unionized salaries and benefit packages that have crept into ALL Public Servant positions has wreaked Havoc!! Bleeding the working businesses dry!!
Time to trim FAT and let the air out of these lofty bureaucrats incredible wages. Come back down to earth and live amungst the rabble that pays your wages.
Quit creating more bureaucracies that exist to tell us what we can and can’t do! Spending millions on absurd “Studies”.

We can all go city by city and see the ineptitude, corruption, pandering to special interests and largess all on the tax and rate payers dollar being abused and wasted.

Get local long time residents to manage our cities affairs. Not these faux experts, imported from places they have been turned out from, testing their wings on the paying schlubbs!
