Winter to bring no promise of rainfall, snow
By Eyragon Eidam, Auburn Journal
Weather experts have little confidence the winter months will bring the rain and snow needed to improve drought conditions in California.
According to a National Weather Service Seasonal Drought Outlook report, the “forecast confidence for California is low,” despite the potential of an El Nino winter.
Typically, California receives approximately 50 percent of its annual precipitation between November and January, but forecasters are not banking on a drought-ending winter.
Doug Parker, director of the UC Institute for Water Resources, said the state would need approximately 150 percent of normal rainfall to pull out of the state’s current drought conditions.
And they botched the 10-11 forecast so…. Thhpppppptttyy!
More reasons to vote yes on M and O and NO on adding thirty thousand plus more homes in subdivisions in the county when the Sierra snowpack may drought decline by up to 75%.
I’m sure most of you know, we’re seeing cooler weather. It is THAT time of year.Bring in that extra armload of firewwood, be sure the car or truck is full of gas and the pantry is well stocked! Candles, flashlights? Plenty of dog and cat food?
So this little storm is just that, maybe an inch at lake level, pretty wimpy, but the night time temps are said to be dropping into the twenties in the next several nights, so bundle up Lake Tahoe News readers!
If you have a older person living nearby make sure that they are okay.

OLS, you’re my kind of people…it’s time to live a little more simpler, be little more kinder, and be a little more patient especially with holidays coming. And always pray for lots of snow! :)
