Cancer League selling See’s Candy
The South Lake Tahoe Cancer League’s annual See’s Candy fundraiser is under way.
Money raised goes to provide stipends for cancer patients in the community. Funds are also used to reimburse people who drive patients to appointments.
Jonnie Crawford, a volunteer with the organization, said in an average month it’s not unusual to hand out more than $5,000 in grants and more than half that much in gas money.
The sale goes from Nov. 21-Dec. 24 from 10am-5pm in the storefront by Starbucks at the Y.
Though well intended the sale of sugar to raise funds for cancer patients is naïve at best and hypocritical at its worst. Sugar causes an acidic condition in the body that allows cancer cells to proliferate. You are feeding the cancer.
It is nice to see you collecting for cancer assistance within the community. Sugar isn’t the only culprit out there. Just about everything that is made for human consumption is lethal in some way or another so go ahead and enjoy a little sweets, just don’t overdo it. I am a cancer survivor of 7 years and sugar was not the issue for me. I at one time lost my insurance and couldn’t afford the medications and got assistance and I was go grateful and blessed for that so I will purchase candy tomorrow!
Thank you to the Cancer League for providing help to cancer patients in SLT. PS – You don’t have to take the candy when you make your donation!
There is usually a donation box there as well, where you can purchase the candy and then donate it to our troops or Christmas Cheer.
Thank you Cancer league, You have helped me in many ways ,See you soon ,I will donate.I do every year Love the decorations on the window.Hope others will to help this year,
