Important to know where water, gas valves are

image_pdfimage_print

Now that the autumn months are upon us, it’s a good time to locate and label, or visually indicate where your water and gas shut-off valves are.

Do this inside and outside of your home.

Then, when the snow flies again, and the possibility of frozen and buried pipes occur, we will be able to quickly minimize any damage to your property.

Thanks for helping us serve you better.

Sallie Ross-Filgo, Good advice indeed! Many years ago my neighbors moved out in the middle of the night and the pipes froze and burst in short order. I could hear the water running inside the empty from my house next door.
The water pressurure was real low at my house, so I called STPUD. They found out that the neighbors house had been tapped into my water line forever.
Good old X -Ray Olsen came to the rescue and after alot of shovel work and new plumbing work, everything got worked out.
So yes it is good to know where water and gas valves are! In most cases all you’ll need is a large crescent wrench to to turn off the valve and then back on.
If you don’t know where your shut of valves are, contact your utility company and they will show you as well as give you professional advice. OLS
