LTCC to put on ‘Leading Ladies’

Lake Tahoe Community College presents the madcap comedy “Leading Ladies” Nov. 14-23 in the Duke Theatre.

The leading ladies referenced in the play’s title are two Shakespearean actors who are so down on their luck that they are performing “Scenes from Shakespeare” on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady in York, Pa., is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long-lost English nieces, they scheme to pass themselves off as the women and get their share of the cash.

Romantic entanglements abound, especially when Leo falls head-over-petticoats in love with the old lady’s vivacious niece, Meg, who’s engaged to the local minister. Meg knows that there’s a big, wide world out there, but it’s not until she meets “Maxine and Stephanie” that she finally gets a real taste of it.

Performances of “Leading Ladies” are Nov. 14, 15, 20, 21 and 22 at 7:30pm, with Sunday matinees on Nov. 16 and 23 at 2pm.

High school and college students with a current school ID may attend the Nov. 20 show for free while seating is available. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $7 for seniors and groups of eight or more, and $5 for students with a valid student ID and children under 13.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at LTCC’s bookstore. The box office will be open for ticket sales one hour before all performances.
